KIHOHE Foundation is a non-profit organization operating in Tanzania Mainland, officially registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, 2002 (Act No. 24 of 2002, Sections 11(10) and 17(2)). Established in 2025 and headquartered in Arusha, Tanzania, the Foundation was created with a clear purpose: to strengthen communities by unlocking the power that already exists within them.
At KIHOHE Foundation, we strongly believe that meaningful and sustainable development does not begin with what communities lack, but with what they already possess. Local knowledge, skills, talents, social networks, natural resources, and cultural heritage are powerful assets. When these are recognized, valued, and harnessed effectively, they can drive lasting growth and transformation.
Our Approach
The Foundation exists to empower individuals and communities to become resilient and self-reliant by building on existing capacities. We work closely with youth and women, recognizing them as key drivers of change and innovation. By nurturing entrepreneurship, encouraging local solutions, and preserving indigenous culture, we support communities to create sustainable livelihoods rooted in their own environments.
Rather than imposing external solutions, KIHOHE Foundation focuses on mobilizing local resources and strengthening community ownership. This approach not only promotes sustainability but also restores dignity, confidence, and long-term impact.
Our Vision
To create resilient, self-reliant communities across Tanzania where youth and women are empowered to drive sustainable development through local resources and cultural preservation.
Our Mission
To mobilize local resources, nurture entrepreneurship, and preserve culture in order to build strong communities that thrive through self-reliance and sustainable practices.
Looking Ahead
As KIHOHE Foundation continues to grow, our commitment remains the same: to walk alongside communities, amplify their strengths, and support locally driven development that lasts for generations. Together, we believe a stronger, more resilient Tanzania can be built—starting from within.
